Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

The Lab CT (“The Lab,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a dance studio located in Cheshire, Connecticut. We operate this website (thelabct.com) and The Lab CT mobile application to provide class scheduling, booking, and community features for our students and instructors.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account information: name, email address, phone number, and password when you create an account.
  • Booking information: class selections, booking history, and any guest information you add.
  • Payment information: billing details submitted at checkout. Card numbers are processed and stored by Stripe, Inc. — we never see or store your full card number.
  • Communications: messages you send us through the app's support or chat features.

Information collected automatically

  • Push notification token: a device identifier provided by Expo when you enable notifications, used only to deliver class reminders and studio updates.
  • Attendance and check-in data: records of classes you attend or are marked present for.
  • Usage data: pages viewed, features used, and general interaction patterns (no third-party analytics beyond what Vercel collects for performance monitoring).

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Process class bookings, payments, and refunds/credits.
  • Send booking confirmations, class reminders, cancellation notices, and other transactional communications via push notification and email.
  • Track attendance and manage class passes and memberships.
  • Respond to support requests and resolve disputes.
  • Improve our services and communicate studio news and updates (you can opt out at any time).
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share your data only with the following service providers who help us operate The Lab CT:

  • Stripe, Inc. — payment processing. stripe.com/privacy
  • Supabase, Inc. — secure database and authentication hosting for all account and booking data.
  • Expo (Expo Platform, Inc.) — delivery of push notifications to your device.
  • Resend, Inc. — transactional email delivery (e.g., class cancellation notices).
  • Vercel, Inc. — website and API hosting.

Each provider is bound by data processing agreements and may not use your data for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our students and staff.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and booking records for as long as your account is active and for up to 3 years after your last interaction with us, unless a longer retention period is required by law. You may request deletion of your account at any time (see Section 7).

6. Cookies and Local Storage

Our website uses session cookies solely to keep you logged in to the admin portal. The public booking website uses minimal client-side storage for cart state. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

7. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and correction: you can view and update your profile information in the app at any time.
  • Notification opt-out: you can disable push notifications in the app under Settings → Notifications, or in your device settings.
  • Account deletion: email info@thelabct.net to request deletion of your account and associated data. We will process requests within 30 days. Note that we may retain transaction records required for tax or legal compliance.
  • Connecticut residents may have additional rights under the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA). Contact us to exercise them.

8. Children's Privacy

The Lab CT serves students of all ages. For students under 13, a parent or guardian must create and manage the account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verified parental consent. If you believe we have done so inadvertently, contact us immediately and we will delete the information.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), row-level security on our database, and limited staff access. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in-app notification. Continued use of our services after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
